I like to develop financial reports on my home system, then put them on my live system at work. Right now, I do a complete backup & restore, but I would like to do report updates independant of my staff putting in entries.

What file(s) would I need to update to do this? I see that the file Report.dat is updated when I modify a Financial Statement. Are there any other files that would have to be copied?

Would this work? has anyone else done this?

This is in Complete Accounting for Windows 2002 multi user version.

You'll do best to create your reports in a separate company at home that you back-up, then restore on to your office computer. You can then use the Copy button on the toolbar of the Reports dialog box to copy the reports from the separate company into your live company. It used to be possible to copy and paste data files between directories, but that loophole has been closed. It's a risky prospect anyway. However, using the method outlined above will ensure that you're able to transfer the reports without any unexpected effects.

Good luck!

Hi dringstrom,

Thanks for the reply! That's a great solution! I like the idea of doing development in something other than my live file and that fills the bill!
