W2000 Professional OS

I am currently running Peachtree Complete Accounting V.6.0. I will be getting a new desktop computer with W2000 Professional. The data is on a Novell Server V.5.0., my current workstation is Win 98. Is it necessary to upgrade Peachtree at this time in order to use W2000? It is a very stable product and I would prefer not to change.

I would advise you to upgrade for several reasons:

- Version 6.0 is no longer supported by Peachtree
- Version 6.0 is a legacy, 16-bit program. Windows 2000 might not be as friendly with such an old program.
- There have been significant improvements in the program since version 6.0.
- The payroll tax service is no longer provided for version 6.0.

With that said, just make sure that you back up your data frequently until you're sure that your new system is stable. If all goes well, and you're not concerned about not being able to contact Peachtree directly if you encounter problems, then you can avoid the upgrade.
