In version 8.0.00.021, win98 workstation, Windows networking

Trying to import payments journal and Peachw keeps crashing. I don't get any import error, but just the generic peachw has performed an illegal operation, blah, blah. When I click on details is says peachw caused an invalid page fault in module MSVCRT.DLL at blah, blah..... I click close and another illegal operation error pops up and this time the detail says there was an invalid page fault in MFC42.DLL.

I ran an inegrity check on the company file, I tried recreating the import definition, I trie recreating the import file, I tried importing from the local drive rather than across the network, I tried a completely different company file, I tried another workstation. And it always crashes at the same spot (and I'm rebooting each time). I click to import, I get 2 asterisks like you get when you import and then it crashes.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Your first step is to apply the 8.02 patch, available from http://www.peachtree.com/html/updates_available.cfm
Let us know if this resolves the problem, if not we'll try to diagnose further.

Ok, I applied the update that I had on my January Tax update CD and now it is up to version 8.0.03.046.

It's still crashing at the same spot. Though this time the error was "invalid page fault in module kernel32.dll

Any further ideas?

I think your Peachtree company may be corrupted. Back up your data first, then try using the Repair Company function.

I don't think it's a corrupted company file. I tried it on the sample company at the client site and I also tried it on the sample company on my own system. All crash in the same spot.

All are on Windows 98 and a couple of posters in the Peachtree newsgroup suggested that it was a microsoft library problem, but I haven't been able to get it updated properly. I'm stumped!

Then, you may have to reinstall Peachtree. Apply the patches are correct, however the conflict may involves IE as well. This is a known problem of Peachtree 8. Try:

1) Downgrade your current IE and install the IE included in the Peachtree installation CDROM.

2) Reinstall Peachtree 8 and apply the patches.

3) Apply IE patches ( from Microsoft )
