I am in need of an accounting program for my start-up business. I was debating between Peachtree FIRST and Peachtree 2002. I have heard my positive feedback regarding the Peachtree Accounting 2002 and that is the way I am leaning. However, I noticed that Windows XP is not listed as one of the compatible operating systems.
Question: Will Peachtree Accounting 2002 "work with" Windows XP? Are there any known problems with 2002 and XP?
Your help would be appreciated.
I would also appreciate knowing how well Peachtree Accounting 2002 works works with Windows XP. I am in the process of purchasing a new system and considering Windows XP.
Works fine on XP Pro for last 3 months.

I'd skip Peachtree First Accounting in favor of Peachtree Accounting (not Peachtree Complete Accounting). Peachtree Accounting should do everything that you need...you can compare the features between the "Accounting" and "Complete Accounting" versions at www.peachtree.com, and download free trial versions if you want to give any version a test drive.

If you'd like to share your company data with another computer, the only choice is Peachtree Complete.

I have Peachtree working on some stand-alone comupters, but do not recommend XP if you need to network. XP is basically a home computer system, not a business sytem. For a network I recommend Windows 2000. We have found it to be so much more stable that we are in the process of wiping 4 laptops for a client to install Win2000 instead.
As for PeachFirst or Complete, if your needs are very basic, you can use First. If you want a full accounting system, use Complete.
Deborah,
"XP is basically a home computer system, not a business sytem. For a network I recommend Windows 2000"
I don't agree with those comments. Windows XP works better than Windows 2000 and far more better than 9x/Me/NT. Windows XP Home Edition *is* a home computer OS, Windows XP Pro is a Business OS, both based on the NT/2000 kernel.
If you are running it in a server/client enviroment Windows XP adminstration/support is a breeze.
Just my $0.02 !!!

I second Javier's comments! I'll add the caveat that I've had problems with mixing XP Home in on a network, but I know several folks using XP Professional in a mixed network environment with no problems. I'm about to pull the trigger on a new laptop with XP, so I'll soon have first hand experience to report.

Glad to hear the comment on XP Pro. I can only go with my personal experience and what my system engineers tell me.

We are using XP Pro with complete 2002 in a network environment and it works just fine. To date we have had no problems.
