I'm looking to upgrade to V9. Our company has been using 6.0 for several years, and I have decisded it is time to upgrade. Will I run into any problems?

You can install version 9 into a separate folder on your machine, say C:\PEACHW90. This way, you can leave your version 6 installation intact. Run the conversion to version 9...if you have problems, you can keep rolling along in version 6.

I don't think you'll have any problems, but there are no guarantees with software. I haven't run into any issues personally running upgrades to version 9.

One other consideration...if time isn't of the essence, you may want to wait a couple months...Peachtree 2003 will likely be released shortly. Of course, a different school of thought is to stick with a proven version, which would be 9.02 (version 9 plus its patches). If it's not in your budget to upgrade very often, waiting for the new release might be advisable. Or, if you go ahead and order 9, ask if you can get a free upgrade to version 10/Peachtree 2003.

Thanks, we considered upgrading when V9 first came out, but wanted to give time to work out any bugs. So the powers that be probably wouldn't want to go with V10 anyway, but now the upgrade question has popped up again, so it's time to move on it.

I was most concerned that I couldn't do a three version upgrade. I know sometimes if your software is too old, an upgrade doesn't work, I just wanted to be sure that wasn't the case here.

I wouldn't worry about the 3 version upgrade. I recently upgraded someone to 9.0 from Peachtree 4.0 with no problems at all. If I recall, the software takes care of the interim upgrades...it might convert your 6.0 data to 7.0, then once more to 9.0. However, it will all be automatic. Plus, if you back up your data first, there's particularly little risk.

As a regular installer/upgrader of Peachtree for my clients - never rely on a single backup. Call me paranoid, but I always use three. At least one is always on another hard drive or media (such as CD). And yes, I have had occasion to use all three.

If you purchase your 2002 v9 upgrade on or after june 1, 2002 you will also receive (free of charge) the 2003 upgrade when it is released 6/30 this way you can use the 2002 v9 product which has been out a sufficient amount of time that the bugs are out (of which there have been very few if any) and have the 2003 available to upgrade to once sufficient time has passed to prove its stability.
