I am about to wipe my harddrive clean and go with W2k, I'm using ME now. I know how to restore my company files, and change the config.nt file, but is there a way to keep my Invoice and check layout formats. I'm hoping that maybe I could just safe the right files and bring them into the new install to eliminate the need to redo the layouts. I'm using Peachtree 2002, and will be reinstalling it after the new OS is in order. Thanks for all the help in the past as well. This forum has been a life saver.

You can check the program and data folder your Peachtree is using by checking the paw90.ini ( Peachtree Accounting ) or pcw90.ini ( Peachtree Complete ) under your windows folder, i.e. c:\windows, which is the statement programpath=... and datapath=...

Your forms should be located under your programpath with extension frm. Suppose your programpath and datapath are all set to c:\peachw, a safe way to backup everything is to copy all the files under c:\peachw to a CDR/CDRW or ZIP disk etc.

Then, after you reinstall your OS, install Peachtree to c:\peachw again. Finally, copy everything back to and override all the files under peachw.

Remark: If you use CDR/CDRW, remember to uncheck the readonly flag of all the files after you copy back.

I thought about that, but just wasnt sure if it would work, I'll be attempting the process tomorrow. Thank you once again.

Just for the record, I always put the custom form INSIDE the Company folder. That way all backups contain the custom forms and can always be restored, copied, etc. This procedure has saved my lots of headaches.
