Out Of Balance

In error I changed a "Long term Liability" type account to "Equity Account which Closes"

The account had a balance from 2004. After making the change the Trial Balance was out of balance by the changed Account balance.

Fortunately I restored from the prior day's backup.

Question? What happened and how could I have solved the problem if I did not have a recent backup?

I am using Peachtree Premium Accounting 2007

Did you try changing the account type back to what it was? I wonder if that would work...Lou

Setup the Peachtree Integrity Checker. Then backup your data files and run the following tests. File Tests - Journal Balances, File Tests - GL Balance.
