We have a multi-user pack of Peachtree 2006, installed on 2 different computers.
We have an old version of Peachtree on which we do payroll. (Not sure what version this is, but it was before they started naming them by years.) More on this later.
We have Peachtree 2006 on a laptop which we intend(ed) to designate as our accounting server (the computer would have all accounting files on it.)
We have Peachtree 2006 on a desktop which is just intended to input data into the laptop.

We want to have 2 different companies in Peachtree 2006. One is already in Peachtree 2006 and has a lot of stuff entered into it. It's sitting on the accounting server.

I created a new company on the desktop and input a bunch of data into it. When I went to see where it was, Peachtree says it's on the desktop, but apparently the data is actually residing on the desktop. We can't find any evidence of the data on the desktop, not even with "show hidden folders" in the "explore" option (right click on the Start button), but when I go into Peachtree, I can open up the company (where the path says it's residing on the laptop).

We want to move the second company, which I will call SPS for short, to the laptop computer. Does anyone know a way to do this, when we can't even find the data files on the computer?

The easiest way would be to create a backup file (File>>backup). Check the box that says "include the company name" in the filename created so that you know which company the backup belongs to. When you go to create the file make a note of the exact path of the file so that you can easily find the file. Now use windows explorer to move the file to the laptop. Use the File>>Restore option and create a *NEW* company on the laptop.

BTW, the new company you created was stored on the laptop because the DATAPATH statement in the peachtree ini file specifies the laptop as the location of the data files. So by default that's where the company files reside.
