I'm customizing a report that is just a bit too large to fit on one page width in letter format. I went into "page setup" to change the page margins, but it is greyed out. Left margin is .75, right is .5. If I could change to .5 and .5, I'd be fine.

It appears that I can access the margins only in forms designs, not in reports. I don't really want to export to excel every time I run this report (current inventory with prices and 1 custom field -- it will be used a lot by sales reps). Is there any way to do this? Why the heck is this inaccessible? And why .75 inches?

When the report is up, click on the Design button and change the report and Save it. Because you are only changing the margins, it should be OK to save under the default name. Any more changes and you need to use a custom name.

On the off chance, report margins can be affected by your printer, some do not allow you to print on specific areas of the edge to allow for rolling the sheet throught he printer, but this should not be .75, it is usually .33 or .5.

I guess I wasn't clear. I DID customize and SAVE the report. In design mode, I can't change the margins. Under the "setup" tab, margins are greyed out. I'm using Windows XP -- but same for Win 98 -- and an HP 5N printer. Can't set defaults from Windows, and the default margin is not .75.
