Our company usually puts in purchased items into item class description only - now we need to start a inventory processes. (using stock items) - I'm using Peachtree 2006 Complete Accounting all the data is in our item list not Inventory. is there a way to export the Master Item list and Import is as Stock/inventory items?

You cannot change an existing Inventory Item Class from Stock Item or Master Stock Item to another.

You can select an existing item and then effectively copy the record by clicking on the Item ID and altering it and then clicking on another field. You can now set the Item Class type to one of your choosing. Now click on Save. If the original item will not be used again, re select it and mark it as INACTIVE. You can further click on the CHANGE ID Icon and change the ID if desired. You could then rename the just copied Item's ID so as to read the original ID.

You can export your Inventory Item list and open it using Excel. Change the ID and the ITEM CLASS on the desired Items, adjust the Item ID's to refect new values and remove the superfulous Master / Sub Stock references and save the changes. You could then import the new Inventory Items. See Peachtree's HELP file and search on the word IMPORT for more information.
