GL edits

I am trying to revise a gl that got totally out of hand. Is there any way to change GL numbers like vendor ID numbers. All the transactions need to go with the number. Is there any way to do this short of opening a new company and exporting the data a piece at a time to excel - making the change - and importing into the new company? This sure seems the long way around.

As I see it, you have 3 options to choose from:

- Edit each transaction manually
- Create journal entries that simply move the balances to the proper account
- Rebuild the company in the manner you described

If it were me, I'd opt for the journal entry route.
