Just got Complete Accounting 2002. How do I enter a non-inventory purchase in Accounts Payable, for example a telephone bill, while making sure that the entry debits operating expenses and crediting accounts payable?

Click on Options, Global, and make sure that Hide General Ledger Accounts isn't clicked on for Accounts Payable. Once you've done so, in the Purchase/Receive Inventory screen, leave the Item field blank, and assign the GL Account of your choosing. The A/P account that the transaction will post to is displayed on this tranasaction screen, but generally you'll have no need to change this.
