Here are the details to my problem. We occassionally get locked up while in Peachtree 2002. When we close Peachtree, we get an error message saying there are security privledge problems and that another user could be on the system, try again later. We reboot the PC (workstation) and all is fine. This time, we rebooted and the error remained. We have rebooted the server, still having the same error. Here are the specifics and exact error message. If anyone knows how to clear this, it would be greatly appreciated. We (unfortunately) do not have a current backup to simply do a restore.

Error message: Unable to determine security privledges. Please retry later. This is probably due to another user temporarily blocking access to critical files.

We have PT 2002, server loaded with NT4.0 server and win98 workstation. Workstation has 128 ram

Thanks for any help!!!

I don't recall the specifics but we had the same problem with Peachtree 8.0. Problem was resolved by scaling back our McAfee Virus scanning. I did not actually make the changes to virus scan but I think it involved disabling background scanning or at least limiting the scanning to certain types of files. Sorry so vague but maybe this will point you in the right direction.

Since rebooting your server and workstations didn't remedy the problem, this is probably a misleading error message. The actual problem is most likely a corrupted data file in your company, and this is Peachtree's reaction to it.

You can try restoring your last good backup of your data, or get your data repaired. (http://peachtreeusers.com/datarepair.htm)
