Has anyone ever seen this error before? I have a client that has this error message. She used the program on Friday and on Monday morning, she gets this error message. She said that the good folks at Peachtree were no help. Any ideas?
She has Complete Accounting 7.0 and the error message ended with a reference to version 5.0? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have she applied the latest patches for Peachtree 7, i.e. 7.0.03 or .04? If not, download from Peachtree and apply it.

Nothing changed between Friday and Monday morning so unless she has the Klez virus, there shouldn't be any need for an update. I do agree that updating is a good idea but this shouldn't be the cause for the problem. I'm more tempted to believe that she is infected with the Klez virus. Thanks for your response though.

Reasons for update: more stable, clean-up of some bugs, faster, added functions.

It isn't a problem requiring an update. I understand the reasons for updates but nothing changed between the time the data worked and the time it didn't. As it turned out, the computer was infected with the Klez virus. Once cleaned up and creation of a new version.txt, the data worked perfectly again. Thanks to all who replied!

Can someone elaborate on the Old Data error and the Klez virus please?
THanks a lot

For detail explanation of the virus klez, please check www.antivirus.com
However, what I understand is some variants of klez virus will affect the system library files of Windows so the behaviour of Windows system calls. That's why unexpected results will arise. Beware of klez.e which will overwrites your doc, xls and many other file formats.

We were infected with Klez E. The system has been cleaned yet I still get a data error saying that the data is too old. Any ideas anyone?

Just a little note on this issue:
The version.txt file contains only a small number which looks something like this:
08.00 or 11.02
This is NOT the version of your software. It is a proprietary code used by peachtree to determine the version number.. I have found only 1 way to determine what this number is.. Create a new company in peachtree (doesn't need to be completely setup either) and view the version.txt file contained in the directory which was created. Either copy the version.txt file over the one that doesn't work, or just copy the information out of the file and paste it to the non-working version.txt file...
Hope this helps
