Im using Peachtree Accounting 8.0 and trying to design my own sales invoice. I have 4 title headers, Quantity, Description, Unit Price & Amount. I can center these title headers but I cannot figure out how to center the data? For example the quantity data shows up on the far right of the column next to the Description column. I would like to somehow center the quantity data. When I try to select the data in just that column it selects the entire group object, but I don't see an option that allows me to center the data. Can anyone help me with this--thanks

Just right click on the "entire group object" and select "properties." Then you can change the fields to show, their format, column width, alignment and order, etc.

Hi Jacky,
Thanks for your feedback. The thing is I've selected "properties" before and can change the alignment of the title header "Quantity" but not the actual data that goes underneath it in that column. I see tons of other options but I dont see that option anywhere in "properties" when dealing with a group object like that. Am I missing it somehow?

That's abnormal, try apply the latest patches for Peachtree 8, visit their website. Otherwise, try on another machine or reinstall Peachtree.

darryldelong - I believe you are correct here. I experienced the same challenge when attempting to format the column data when using a GROUP format. It allows you to align the TITLE text but does not allow you to alter the alignment for the data that prints. I believe it will only default to
TEXT - Left align
NUMERIC - Right align
If you create your own form for an invoice and not use the GROUP function it then allows you to format the data in the columns exactly the way you want. You can place the data by row anywhere you want to the point where you can have the data stagger by row (which of course would not look good but just tells you of the exact placement allowed) Only this is very time consuming. If it is that important then you can spend the time to do it. Quite honestly thought I would not see why you would want to center the data in a numeric column whether it would be quantity, item # or Extension. This looks very disorganized when printed out if the number of digits are not the same in each row for that data column. If you mean you want to be able to still have the data print out in alignment of right or left justified but have a space between the data and the column verticle lines I could understand that becase the data in the next field if text does print right next to the column line which does make it harder to read the text and the numbers in the column to the left of the text start area.
Hope I understand what you are attempting to do.

The problem of not being able to adjust the data value justification within a table object continues in version 9 (2002).
The problem is that on an invoice for which Quantity comes before Item, the quantity prints right justified and the item prints left justified and the text is too close togethor.
I too am seeking a solution in which I could either increase the spacing between table columns or change the justification of the actual data in the columns.
So far my only solution has been to make my own custom invoice which is a throw back to the original invoice definitions. If I have overlooked something obvious to correct the above problem then please let me know. I would much rather use the table object for easier maintenance of the invoice definition.

Dear friends,
So have you tried insert a column between them, say just a "dummy field," choose any field normally you won't you.
Hope this help.

Jacky Tse - do you mean as in a blank field which of course would print "". This may do it if they may not use one of the user definded fields or some other field. Heck, give it a try.

Easiest way to center data in the group data box is to go into the Group object properties box, and click the "#" button next to the column description (if available). Add a space or two at the end of the smaple text (usually N,NNN.nn, something like that). This will move the data to the left by how many spaces you put at the end. Hope this helps.
And hi y'all from a new forum user :)

Okay, that was so easy I feel real stupid now  . I must have spent hours back when I was trying to add a space between the data and the column line. DUH!! on my part.
Thanks for the hint

Well that helped me for the numbers in my table. Any ideas on moving the text over 1 space?
