We upgraded to PT for Mfg. 2008 (running on XP Pro in a peer to peer network environment) a few months ago, and have had nothing but problems--nothing major, just little glitches here and there. Until now . . .

Every computer (3; oops, only 2 now since one had to be sent out for repair to the OS) that we run PT on has had PT uninstalled and re-installed, starting with the "server". After a few days of running fine, now when I try to start Peachtree on a workstation, I get the following error message:

"Peachtree is unable to connect to its database, Pervasive, on computer [XXXX]. Make sure the computer is logged in or that the database service is running. Also make sure the firewall is set to allow Peachtree and Pervasive to run…"

I am mapped correctly, have completely uninstalled ZoneAlarm, and I have set the Windows firewall to the advised specs. I have also uninstalled (including the .ini file) and re-installed PT on this computer again. Still no joy.

I suspect that this is not an isolated problem. Is there anyone else who is having the same type of problems? Any solutions? Any ideas at all?

Check the Peachtree Folder SHARING settings on the HOST Computer. Be sure that it is set for FULL Permissions and then check the SECURITY Tab and set it as well to FULL or equivalent.

Unistall from all computers, restart, then reinstall on the server computer first, then each workstation.

Thanks, but we've already tried both of these ideas to no effect.

I found out yesterday that the workstation (which was our original "server") being repaired has a corrupted registry and the OS must be reinstalled. Curiously, the only programs affected on that computer were Peachtree and Outlook; everything else worked exactly as it should.

We are limping along with only 2 workstations, and now are having the same problems with one of them (not the "server"). I am wondering if having re-installed the data backup on the newly appointed server, I have introduced the same problem/s to it?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem. My computer which is the host crashed and everything had to be reinstalled. Everything worked ok to begin with but now I am getting the same error message about pervasive.
Did you get yours fixed and if so how?
