two companies cannot be open

"two companies cannot be open at the same time if neither has users setup"

Can someone tell me what caused this error and how I can correct it? I have shutdown and restarted but I still have this problem. I am the only user. It will not let me into any company including sample companies.

Delete or rename all files with the following file extension *.cac. These files are located in each Company Data Folder.

Thanks for the help. I did not work in my case. After backing up my company files, I uninstalled peachtree and then deleted company files from computer because if you don't it will not re-install peachtree. Then I restored my company files.

The original error message suggests that you need to define User Security and setup one, two or more users. Then you can open one Company by logging on using a User Name and then you can open a second Company on a second computer and use one of the other defined user names.
