Anyone know why the Soc. Sec. withholding would not be calculated correctly? The limit is correct. I think it has to do with the place the program pulls the YTD info. Any ideas???
This isn't the first problem I have had with PT 2000!
If you are in fact using PT2000 (not 2002) you should try posting to the appropiate forum.
What exactly is happening with your SS Calculations? If you suspect is a YTD thing, I would print a report and do the calculations myself and then compare (more detailed the better). Also, is this only for one employee or all of them?
If you are not using PT2000, please disregard this message.

I have a client using PT2000 and not 2002.
The former bookkeeper (inexperienced in PT2000) had not closed the payroll module for 2001. We did not realize this until the end of February 2002 when we noticed that the YTD wages on the check stubs were incorrect. We closed the previous calendar year (I think) when we noticed the error.
The company's owner has been collecting a salary of $12,000/mon. for January and February. He took $6,000 on 3/15 and $6,500 on 3/30. He took a total of $13,000 in April and another $6,500 on 5/15. When we tried to do a bonus check on 5/16 of $750,000 the social security withheld was $2,315.76 -- it should have been $1,791.80. I had the new bookkeeper check the Soc. Sec. limit and it was still set at $80,400. So I had her change the limit before she ran the bonus check.
I use MAS90, which seems similar to PT2000, and don't seem to have as many problems. It could be that the person who set up their PT2000 was not experienced in that type of accounting program. I need to get this corrected for them. Their y/e is 6/30/02.
I will post on the appropriate board next time. Sorry.
