What is the process of becoming Peachtree certified for training and installation?

I suggest you call Peachtree and ask them directly. Nevertheless, there are people here that work for Peachtree "certified partners" (or at least I think so) maybe they can tell you.

Also, I think that the "certified partner" denomination is something like for a company and not for an individual and it's more like a sales and support kind of thing. I don't know what's you case, but you might want to check that out. Anyway, that's my opinion (I really don't have a clue).

I work very heavily in three programs ( 2 programs, 1 language) Peachtree, Act, and Access. In a number of discussions with other very knowledgeable and successful consultants, certification has one major result - it keeps the training companies in business. Overall, the tests do not measure knowledge but the ability to regurgitate mostly unused answers. I took a test for a consulting position in Access just a few weeks ago and 80% of the questions were useless in the real world. Who cares if something is called (Access example) the Replication Manager, the Data Replica Manager, or the Synch Manager - the big question is does the individual know how to take a database and send copies of it accross a network.

I have sat in an Act panel discussion as one of the audience and halfway through the discussion other people started coming to me because the "experts" said "I don't know" and I had the answer.

And don't let me get started on the innumerable Microsoft MCSE's who didn't know how to install a program, back up a network, or even configure Windows beyond the most basic configuration.

Oh, and I have attended one local Peachtree expert's class. This person used photocopies of the books I had purchased directly from Peachtree beforehand and still had the audacity to charge me full price when the person could not answer any one of the specific questions I had.

Experience is much more important than certification. That's why I finally went out and started writing my own books on the subjects.
