G/L accounts has correct balance, but show no transactions

Two accounts (that I have identified so far)have correct balances but do not show the transactions that updated the balance. I have tried unposting and reposting transactions but that doesn't fix the problem. I have run all integrity checks/repair company options and get no error messages. I tested by trying to post new transactions to the accounts and new transactions do not update the balance (it's like it posts a one sided entry). I'm stumped.

Have you gone into options/fields and made sure the check mark is next to "Transaction amount dr/cr"?

I checked. That's not the problem.
