I have a client that is wanting to install bar code readers in their store to assist with sales and inventory control. I've never had this situation before and I cannot find anything in the forums or in the PW KnowledgeBase.
I've had the client up and running in PW for over 5 years, through upgrades, etc.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Read my thread in the Peachtree DOS forum at:

While this was intended for the DOS versions some of the facts are there and still are true for any version of Peachtree and/or program.
The question is: What does your client wants to do? If it's simply to enter the Item ID in it's respective field... then you will only have to buy a Scanner with a Wedge and not the more expensive (and programmable) serial scanner. While, the first one is fairly inexpensive and is not OS dependent, with the second one you will have to develop an app (but you can do a lot of more customization with it).
A little piece of advice... don't buy a CCD scanner (in fact only buy laser scanners) which are the ones that comes bundled with programs like: Barcode Anything and they are real cheap, about $50 bucks.
I hope this helps,
