Hi,
I am using Peachtree 2002. I got a new laser printer and it works fine for reports and everything in Peachtree except check printing. When I go into payments - print check - I get this error:
"Form Print was cancelled due to print error" and aborts. Then when I try to get back into Peachtree, it says the program is being used by another user and won't let me back in. I have to reboot my computer to get back in.

I tried to go into "check disbursement" design to view the printer setup but as soon as I click on "check disbursement" I get this error: "Peachw has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. The details say: "Peachw caused a general protection fault in module MMSYSTEM.DLL at 000 a:00000032...." and aborts. Then, again if I try to get back in, it says it is being used by another user.... and I have to reboot again.

I am so sick and tired of rebooting my computer and trying to print a simple check! Any solutions, PLEASE??

Thanks,
Doreen

#1- The reason you get that serial number error is because when you crash out of Peachtree, the database engine is still running in the background. It still thinks that someone with that serial number is still in Peachtree, and, assuming you are a single user or you are using multiple single user copies, it will not let you in when you try to restart Peachtree. If it happens again, hit ctrl-alt-del and shut down the W32MKDE program still running (this will be in 'Processes" if you are running NT/2000/XP, 'Programs Running' in Win95/98/ME). THis will keep you from having to reboot, which also clears the DBE out of memory.

#2 - A General Protection Fault usually means that Windows is not handling your memory resources well. It can also mean that you are having printer driver conflicts. For the latter, refer to my reply in the "Invalid Page Fault" thread to fix that. For the former, run ScanDisk, Defrag, and make sure your resources are being handled effectivley. the MMSYSTEM.DLL usually handles hardware resources like audio and video, but also can deal with printing. Since the printer driver is invoked when in design-mode, this may be the source of your problem.
