Peachtree 2006 Stalling/corrupting at Bill entry

I've been running 2006 since Jan 06 and now am having a problem. When entering invoices to vendors I have a stall midway through my entries. When hitting save, it will stall and give the egg timer sign whereas you must Cntrl Alt Del to get the task manager, which will show Peachtree not responding. After getting out thru task manager, I shut down computer and come back up to find file not able to be accessed. Last month it was corruption in the header files. Integrity and repair company did not fix my problem.

Luckily I have reinstalled a backup and continued okay.

Question is, we have Peachtree on our file server (one user only) and it shares a drive with ACT database for our many salespeople. They are having problems with ACT as well. Could they be conflicting or using too much space. How much space should I have to run?

Could Sonic Firewall and Symantic Security be a problem? Firewall was recently updated but problem has just occured one month ago, even though all systems were fine together since Jan. 06.

I think I may have found problem. IT fellow came out and I did the 20 questions with him. One question of mine was that my Second Copy backup drive (transportable) had started running when I noticed the freeze. I shut the back up down but the freeze did not resolve. He feels that I did not give it proper time to release the files before I ended the task manager.

I will assume this is the case and not turn on backup drive while working in Peachtree.

The size/crowding database thing was no problem, nor the other software.
