Peachtree 2008 Installation on Vista Home Premium

I am trying to Install Peachtree Complete Accounting on windows vista home premium but am not able to install it. I disabled the antivirus and enabled the firewall (norton) but in middle of the installation i get an error message which say your firewall has blocked some files required to run the peachtree database.
In the services i cannot see the pervasive.sql service running.
I have tried to install and uninstall several times but all is in vane.
i would like to know how to overcome this issue of Installing peachtree complete accounting 2008 on windows vista home premium.

It is imperative that you DISABLE both the Anti-Virus and the FIREWALL Software prior to the installation of Peachtree. In your post, you have stated that you enabled the Firewall and that Peachtree stated that the Firewall Software blocked the installation.

After the Installation when i open peachtree, it gets hung and does not respond

are there any patches or service pack available that i need to install?

also i am not able to see the pervasive.SQL workgroup engine in the services.

Initially you can start Pervasive by migrating to C:\PVSW\BIN and clicking on W3dbsmgr.exe. Once you have Peachtree open, click on HELP and Customer Support & Service, next click on the bottom line of the next menu - Startup Configuration and select SERVICE.

Hello,
I was about to re-install win Vista because I have tried all options I know of to get this program installed on Win Vista. Same problem as this person with Firewall warning - thing is I don't have a firewall installed... I guess Vista sets up Windows defender and firewall by default untill the user installs another one or disables the options of realtime scanning... I have disabled realtime scanning and have turned off the Windows Vista firewall - unless it is one of the MS services that have been left running (per the Peachtree Web install instructions), I also am running Avast Antivirus which I followed the procedures in one of Peachtree's support guides on how to install, by going into msconfig and disabling all the non-microsoft services and disabling all startup items. I did that and the peachtree program still didn't install. I even tried to copy files to the hard drive and install that way, and am now getting an error message that has a -1 in it somewhere...
Can anybody give me any suggestions on this???

Hi, I have installed the Peachtree 2008 software, but my problem is it won't start. It says I have to reboot the computer and do it again. It worked for a while and now just won't work at all. Of course, it's year end and all so of course it won't work! Any ideas? thanks, WriteProcess

I had the vista problem. I was very upset because all I wanted to do was run 07 on the vista and it said it wouldnt work. Then when I have trouble installing 08 there are patches to make the older versions work.
My problem was that it was extremely slow in vista and it came out to be that vista operates in a different way then the older windows versions. ou need to change the registry of something called IPv6.

this was the fix to get vista to move

I am an idiot and got it to work, dont be too concerned, just take your time and change the settings and it flies on vista.
