Just wondering if anyone has experience using ShipGear and integration with UPS...

UPS Tech Support came by today and try getting us to sign up for it...

We have Peachtree for Manufacturing 2006 and have used ShipGear for about 2 years. It is really useful. It pulls the customer information into UPS from the sales order in Peachtree. They are very good about updates, support, etc. We really haven't had any problems.

Does Peachtree and ShipGear/World Ship have to be running on the same computer? Our shipping computer is on the network but does not have Peachtree installed, nor do we have enough licenses to have our shipping guy run PT just for shipping integration.

Ship Gear with Peachtree works great. The SG data comes into the sales order as a PT "note" with all the UPS data: weight, tracker, etc.

We also use Ship Gear on a FedEx terminal to integrate with PT. Not only does the PT SO get the FedEx data, but the FedEx online order automatically picks up the SO data fields that we mapped. In our case, we are a shipping fulfillment center for our customer (they tell us what product to ship, and to whom). Our customer can go online with FedEx and find their SO's with all of our PT data included. Really saves time.

Our shipping terminals have PT installed, but they don't really run PT out there. The SG program just mines the PT data file (on the server) for the sales orders, then pushes the UPS data into the sales order. I don't *think* that it takes an extra license to do that, but I may be wrong.

It works great. The only gripe is that it can be cumbersome to set up rules. YOu have to do it state by state. It will not do it globally. Really useful program.

We already utilize notes a lot for various marks, references, etc. Will ShipGear append to the existing notes or does it replace any existing notes?

Hi Scott,

Peachtree does not need to be installled on the same computer as ShipGear. ShipGear will append the information in the note when writing back. You also have the option to write the tracking information to the internal or customer note. Please feel free to try our 30 trial of ShipGear.
