I have Version 7.0 of Complete and recently Fixed Assets has refused to calculate any depreciation. The calculate dialog box will disappear when OK is clicked, but no calulation ever appears. When pressing ctrl-alt-delete to see Task Manager it comes up with Wbt32 (not responding). I select End Task, and FA posts a message box about no depreciation being posted for 24000 closed periods, but no depreciation is ever calculated or posted.
I've tried a re-install but it still does it. I have installed the 7.03 update.
Any ideas? Thanks

You're experiencing a Btrieve problem (the underlying database with Peachtree). Try installing the version 7 registry patch available via
http://www.peachtree.com/html/updates_available.cfm
then report back whether that helps.

After three attempts to register at Peachtree.com I was finally able todownload the registry patch, but I don't think that was the problem. I found the FA worked properly on other workstations on the NT 4.0 network. So, it had to be a corrupt file on the problem workstation that was not overwritten when I reinstalled FA over the old install. I finally uninstalled Peachtree Complete in total and did a complete reinstall followed by the registry fix and the 7.03 update and calendar update. Now it works properly.
BTW what is everyone's opinion of the latest version of Peachtree Complete? I've been hoping for improvements in entering credit/debit memos to AP and AR, better control over bank deposits (footing totals) and more consistent report design (placing fields in V.7 doesn't always give you what you want). Does the latest version correct these problems?
Also, can you install and run different versions of Peachtree on the same workstation, as long as you keep the version's data files separate?
Thanks for your help

Peachtree 2003 hasn't shipped yet, but I'm sure there will be plenty of discussion here when it does. My understanding is the biggest new feature is the ability to drill-down into the underlying transactions on the income statement. This should have been added several versions ago, in my opinion. Other than that, I doubt you'll see much change in the user interface. Again, this is my speculation.
Separately, you can certainly have multiple versions of Peachtree. I always run the 3 latest versions on my laptop. Keep everything in separate folders, and it all works out fine.

The registry update doesn't help Fixed Assets as FA is still 16 bit and pulls it's settings from the bti.ini file. Do a find for bti.ini and rename that file to bti.old and then reinstall. This will put a new bti.ini file on your system (just in case the other was damaged or settings have been changed by another program).
