We recently had a virus that corrupted some files in the Peachw folder (Complete 2002), however our "company" folder(& info) was unaffected. I copied an older backup of the Peachw folder (about 4-5 weeks old) and copied the current "company" folder into the older Peachw. Everything is there except I can no longer open any of the AR reports such as Items Sold to Customers or Cash Receipts Journal. If I try, I get a peachw.exe illegal operation error.
Is there another way of importing the newest "company info" into a Peachw folder or can I just re-install Peachtree 2002?
Hit the Detail button of the illegal op error and tell us what the error says inside. This could be something as simple as a corrupt report DAT file. Also, are these standard or custom reports? This is important because they are different files. If they are standard, try opening up the same ones in the sample company. If they open in the sample co. then we can look at the data. If you get errors in the sample co too then either its the standard report DAT (rptdatai.dat) or the printer driver. If the reports are custom, then it may either the driver, the rptdata.dat located in your company folder, or your data.
Also it is always best to reinstall after a virus attack as it could have attacked other files Peachtree needs outside the Peachw folder. Uninstall then Reinstall to a new Peachw9 folder, then copy your company folder over into it. Make a backup first. Then after mioving it over you can take all the FRM files from your company folder and place it into the Peachw9 datapath. These are your custom checks, invoices, etc.
The error is:
Peachw has caused an invalid page fault in peachw.exe at 017F:040741ff.
then sometimes is followed by
Peachw has caused an invalid page fault in MSVBVM60.dll
These are all standard Peachtree reports.
I get the same error with the sample companies as well..
Check your release number In Help/About PTree Accounting. If it is earlier than 9.0.02.033 go to peachtree.com and download the latest patch. That is actually a Microsoft Visual Basic file that Peachtree needs. Quite possibly the file is corrupt.
If you get it in the sample company also, then you may need to rename the rptdatai.dat file that resides in your peachw folder and reinstall. This will place a fresh one in there. Otherwise check your printer driver.
