Boss had to reinstall PT in Jan. After the instulation some of the accounts have negative balances. There is not history showing in the accounts. I need to clean the negative balances out so the rest of the balances will be right for the year. How?

What release number are you on (go to help and about to find this information)? Where are you seeing these negative numbers? Was it just a reinstall or did you have to restore backup as well? Have you checked your general ledger report (general ledger, then general ledger again on the right) and audited the transactions hitting these accounts?

Peachtree version is 7.???

I was seeing the negative balance in the customers ledgers and in the aged receival report. A deposit to the credit colum increased the negative balance and a deposit to the debit colum made the negative balance decrease.

Thanks for any help.

Unfortunately that is just a version number. If you go to the help section as directed previously you will see an area that gives a long number such as 7.0.03.XXXX or what have you.

Have you done a manual audit of those accounts to insure that the correct transaction are hitting it and they are being processed correctly?

Once you inform me of your full version number I can offer some instructions on a few integrity checks to do but it may not be data related.

Version Number 7.0.02.093

The Boss wife uses this powerful program to write invoices and checks. That is all she has done with the program. I don't guess that any of the accounts have been reconciled. The only accounts tha that are close to correct are accounts that were opened this year or the last part of last year.

I am just tring to wipe some of the old numbers out of the accounts so I can keep the new numbers as of 1-1-02 current. There is no way I can reconcile the account.

The balance of the accounts in accounts receiveable, for the most part, are -25645.00. A credit of 5,000.00 increases the balance to -30645.00 and a cebit of 5,000.00 decreases the balance to 20645.00.

Thank you for your help.
