Hello!

My client has PT for DOS version 8. He was running it on a Windows 98 machine that is now defunct. I have a copy of his entire PCIII folder. We copied the copy to C:\PCIII on a new machine running Windows XP. I set the FILES=100 thing and all of that. When I bring up PEACH, the utilities shows that all the modules except GL are not activated. When I attempt to bring up any of these other modules, PeachTree asks me if I want to activate the module. I say Y(es) and then it goes through the process, but when it's done the module is empty with no data. I know the original copy has data in the modules, but the activation process appears to wipe the data out. If I copy the data files again from my original copy, it again says that the module is not activated, and i go through the same thing.

I apologize in advance if the answer is in this forum somewhere...I tried to search all the articles in the forum, but couldn't find what I needed.

Thanks!

I recall having to recover data files in the utility menu when I moved the data to a new box many, many, many years ago.

Thanks, smarkham604, but recovering the data files didn't work. After recovery, they are still empty.

Seemingly, your data path as defined within Peachtree is inconsistent with the actual data path.

Open Peachtree and your Company. Select Utilities, Maintain Company Information and then Display Company, Module Information. Look to the bottom half of the screen to see a list of modules, and their respective data folder names and location. Now check to see if the actual folder names via Windows Explorer agree.

You can change the Peachtree Datapath via a built-in utility. From the Windows Command prompt, migrate to the Peachtree folder C:\PCIII and type the commnand line UTILBA. Follow the promts and from the main menu, select Change Datapath etc.
