Does anyone out there have as much problems with inventory as we do? The figures just don't add up. The ending total on several inventory items are incorrect. They are off at least 1,000 and there are no reasons I can find for this. We have been instructed to do intregrity checks, which we have done and when we find it has corrected the items we were aware of, we discovered it has changed the totals of other items. Would love some help fixing this!

Do you sell these items into the negatives on a regular basis?

Do you do inventory adjustments to bring the qty to zero, change the cost and then adjust it back up?

Besides corruption the only other problems I have seen with inventory is when it is just not being handled correctly (selling into the negatives and adjustments to try and effect the last cost).

You can adjust these items to zero, use the change id feature and change them to DONOTUSE1, DONOTUSE2, etc. and then make them inactive. Now you can use the same ID as a new record and enter your beginning quantities. This will allow you start tracking the cost for that item again to try and pinpoint where and what is throwing it off.

Thank you so much for your help. Yes, we have done very strange things to our inventory. Sell to the negative, make an item 0 and so on. Luckily yesterday I found a report that will help me a great deal. We have needed a report that shows the in and outs of inventory. All we had was just the totals of the month. Now I can show someone where they made an adjustment to inventory and then didn't put in or take out the product. The problem that I wrote about yesterday ended up being a manual error. With the report I found, I was able to show where the error took place and that PT could calculate the numbers it is given. Again, THANKS!!
