I'm preparing to upgrade a client from PCW v5.0 build 55 to Peachtree Complete 2009. Any suggestions on a recommended upgrade path, datawise? I think there were significant changes to the db structure with the 2002 and 2007 versions - anything else I should be aware of? The path I was considering was to take them up to PCW7, then to v.9/2002, then to 2005, 2007 and then finally up to 2009. Am I missing anything, or are any of those steps too big a jump?
Your help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Steve
Do the PCW7 upgrade, then take them straight to 2009. The steps in between aren't needed. If you watch the conversion, you will see that Peachtree actually steps the data through each version.

Thanks, Steve. I was reluctant to do that only because of a couple of dicey upgrades, one from 04 to 08 and one from 02 to 08. I ended up having to step them up to breach the gap between 06 and 07.
I've got a copy of their data - I'll do the two-step upgrade you recommended and let you know how that goes.

If you have any trouble, you could try taking them to 2006 (the last btreive version) and run a data verification before going to 2009. Also remember that it is always better to convert data locally if possible.

I ended up installing 5.0 on my local machine, opening the company, then upgrading that installation of 5.0 to 9.0. Backed up the 9.0 company, then restored the backup in 2009 and did the rest of the data conversion there. No issues with the data as far as I can see. Pretty small files - GL, AP and employee information only.
