When I print out my form, a number appears in the upper, left corner (12A). Any ideas on what this could be?

Just a guess - but maybe you are using the wrong driver for your printer. When a page is sent to your printer it may start with some kind of formatting string, <esc>12A, that the printer doesn't recognize. The <esc> would get stripped off and you would be left with 12A.

Would this show up in the print preview if that was the case?
Yep. When you choose Preview, the printer driver is used to show you what it about to print. So it makes sense it will show that format artifact in it.

This number does not show up in the print preview. It also appears in other documents from other programs, such as AutoCAD. We have only seen it on 8 1/2 x 11 pages from one printer. Could it be a bad printer code? Please respond with any help.

I don't think it would necessarily show up in the print preview because some of the characters that are sent to printers set it up for the upcoming print job. I see two possibilities...
1. The print driver is incorrect or corrupt
2. The network admin is sending characters that are not being stripped off before the job gets to the printer.
If you're on a network, I'd try sending to the printer directly thru the parallel or usb port. If your not on a network, I'd find the latest print driver (www.driverzone.com) and try that. If your on a network and can't try the printer locally or load your own driver, you need to discuss this problem with the MIS/IP people.

It is a page number. This occurs if your report is too wide for what you have selected to print on. You will not see in print preview usually.
