I've been receiving an error, "eventlog.dat is currently in use. Please try again when it is available." I only get the error when posting payroll entries after printing checks in bulk or posting reconcilliation entries after account reconcilliation. I only get the error if I'm trying to post more than 5 items at a time. My data is on a server. Any ideas?

Most likely your eventlog.dat file is corrupted. You could delete this file (after backing it up first), then let Peachtree create a new, blank one when you reopen the company.
What type of server are you on? NT? Novell? Also, do you get lockups when running Account Reconciliation? (ooops. I see you do. I need to start reading the whole post first hehe) I only mention this because it sounds like your network may not be giving to bandwidth needed to post the amount of data you are passing. What usually resolves this is updating your FILES and BUFFER settings in your Config.sys in Win 95/98/ME, your Config.nt in NT/2000/XP. Add the following lines in their config file on any workstation running Peachtree.
FILES=199
BUFFERS=32,0
On the server add these
FILES=250
BUFFERS=32,0
Reboot each computer you modify.
Also, apply the peachtree version 7 registry update (even if you are running a later version) available on their support site. This will update the btrieve database engine settings to higher than default capacity.

If your server doesn't run the peachtree program and is only holding the data, don't worry about applying the patch on the server. Only computers that run peachtree need the registry patch applied.
Good luck.
