Hey guys,
I'm trying to import transactions into PT. Problem is no matter how hard I try, I can't find out how to do what I need to do. I have a dbase of files, one for every day. In each file are the summarizing numbers I would like to post into PT. I can get the numbers from the file into a csv file, I was even able to import a day into the general journal. It won't let me import another day in though. It says that it imports and doesn't report any errors but the numbers don't appear in the general journal. Am I doing something wrong?!?

If you're not encountering errors, it's most likely that your dates are incorrect in your import file. I once accidentally imported something into the year 1956. Peachtree doesn't warn you if you attempt to import into an earlier or later year.
In general, on importing, the best bet is to try your import/export with the same company. Export the general journal from there, take a look at the file structure, then import it back in. That's the best way to understand how the import file needs to look.
Good luck!

What application are you using to create the csv file? I was using Excel. I had problems importing the newly created csv file to PT because it was still open on Excel. Could this be a problem.
I import a lot of general journal entries routinely. I only use the following fields.
Date
Reference
Number in Distribution
General Ledger Number
Description
Amount
To make it easier, I have customized my import screen. I first said SHOW NONE. Then I clicked on the above fields. I go to the tab to change the Import file name and location. I refuse to write a file to the root directory. Then I save this import format with a descriptive name. From there it is a breeze to do.

----how did you fix this? When I tried to edit or delete this incorrect transaction, it would not allow me to. Also, what is the best way to let Peachtree know that there needs to be an alert on this kind of detrimental mistake.
