We just got around to upgrading Quantum 2007 to Quantum 2008. We have 6 PCs (Win XP Pro) running off company data on a Windows Server 2003 small business server. After the upgrade, Peachtree will lock up on the PCs, or sometimes display a message that Peachtree cannot be started. I've had a network admin person on-site for 2 days, trying to resolve this with no luck. Our configuration, which worked fine on Quantum 2007, hasn't changed.

We're out of ideas. Have any suggestions for things we should check?

This error message is typically related to conflicts with Security Software ie. Firewall.

Rick, I think it is indeed a firewall issue. When we exclude the Pervasive DB and Peachtree from the Windows firewall, we still have issues, but when we completely shut off the firewall, the issues seem to abate. Any suggestions? Obviously we like to have a working firewall, even if Sage doesn't.

This list is from Peachtree's knowledgbase. It tells you which files need to be allowed through the firewall and where you willl find them.

from answer ID 19139:
For Peachtree Accounting 2008

Peachtree processes that must be allowed through the firewall:

*Peachw.exe or Peachtree Accounting for Windows 2008 (located off the installed program path).
*W3DBSMGR.exe or Pervasive.SQL 9.1 Workstation Engine (typically located at C:\pvsw\bin\w3dbsmgr.exe).
*W3LGO103.exe (typically located at C:\pvsw\bin\w3lgo103.exe).
*PeachPIM15.exe or Peachtree Accounting Component (located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Peach\V1500\ PeachPIM15.exe).
*Peachupdate15.exe or Peachtree Online Update Component (located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Peach\V1500\PeachUpdx15.exe).
*AIS2.Server.Console.exe or AIS 2.1, Server Console (located at C:\Program Files\Sage Software\Integration Services\bin\AIS2.Server.Console.exe).
*PeachtreePrefetcher.exe (located off the installed program path).

Many thanks, SMC. We've disabled all firewalls at the PCs and installed a single firewall at the router. That seems to keep Peachtree happy, and our sys admin claims it doesn't make us any more vulnerable. If you think otherwise, let me know and I'll have him re-enable all the firewalls and put exceptions on the files you listed.

This forum is great. Thanks again.
