I'd like to hear opinions if 600 sales invoices ,250 checks,40 deposit slips ,a few hundred non inventory items a month seems like an overload in PT. How could you gauge it before you set up the company and keep an eye on the file size.
Apreciate your help

In my experience, the statistics that you describe are within the reasonable operating limits of the software. I generally find that if you have hundreds of anything, you're OK. It's when you start getting thousands of anything that I've seen problems occur.
I also tend to see data integrity problems start creeping in when the total file size starts to exceed 100 MB. That's not a hard and fast rule...I've got one client running a 250 MB Peachtree company, albeit slowly.
Having good hardware and a current operating system will help you get better mileage. The above is based on my experience, which may differ from the observations of others.
I find incredible that Peachtree DOS/Classic handles a lot better large number of transactions that PCAW.
Nothing to do with this really... but it's something that always has bothered me.

DOS handles a larger number of transaction better due to the fact that PAW and PCW are one large btrieve database, and the larger a btrieve gets the more unstable it becomes. Since the DOS product is modular in design it stores the data in smaller chuncks and can therfore handle more data before becoming unstable.
