I'm running PT Complete 2009 on my desktop and my notebook. My intention was to take the notebook on the road, do invoices and catch up on accounting, then sync up with SBS where the data is stored so that I can work on my desktop when I'm in the office.
I have a problem, though. Either I didn't install PT on the notebook properly the first time around, or it defaulted to looking for Pervasive on the server. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything to get it to work. I've tried shutting off the network so it won't connect during the install. I've tried connecting to different networks. I even tried installing it as if I was creating a new company, figuring I could edit the .ini file after the install. It still keeps defaulting to Pervasive on the server giving the error, "database engine on computer [server] is unavailable."
It makes PT pretty useless outside the office if it works only when connected to my office network. Is there a solution to create a full PT install with Pervasive on the notebook and the data on a shared, offline file that syncs with folder on the server?
