View Full Version : Problem when changing accounting period

Hi,

I have a user who is complaining that she would be prompted with an error : Error reading General file whenever she changes the accounting period. How could this be solved?

Please help.

Something doesn't sound right. Ask the user to double check and confirm the error message. Could she be receiving a message "Period changed to xxx due to an unposted entry"?

:) Just go to the maintain/company information/change posting method to batch posting. Then go to task/system and post all journal. After this you can change the accounting period already.

This is mainly due to some of the tranasction are not posted (Especially when you are on the network environment).

i would recommend peachtree users - especially those with lots of transactions to do periodic reindexing under the integrity check.

you can look up for it under peachtree's help function for "integrity check"

once every six months should be good. it is just like servicing your car.

i have done a few troubleshooting for customers - and those on networks usually have some file indexing problems ! it is very rare but it happens - maybe for 1 transaction in 3 years of accounting data.

Data verification in 2002 and 2003 works just as well.

Data Verification in V10 is not the same as the integrity checks. Unfortunately Peachtree is rather closed-mouthed about what precisely they do in either case.
