I have the same problem recently and I am using Premium Accounting. Two users out of four have this problem. Re-install Peachtree does not help at all.

I tried creating new users for the two people who has problem and it would work for a few days until the same error shows up again for them.

What version of Peachtree, and what version of Windows are being used here?

Does this same problem occur when attempting to print from one of the sample companies?

Are you attempting to print a custom form? Does this happen when printing a standard Invoice Form?

Have you checked the Users Privileges for AR and printing?

Are you on network, and if so, are you printing across the network or to a local printer?

Is this a new printer / printer driver?

More information is necessary in order to help you isolate the source of the problem.

What version of Peachtree, and what version of Windows are being used here? - Peachree Premium Accounting 2009 and Windows XP.

Does this same problem occur when attempting to print from one of the sample companies? - Yes and no. If I just open Peachtree and go to sample company (without loggin in), it can print invoice. If I log in sample company after I have problem with the error message (with our company file) and not close Peachtree, the same error message (credit memo printing in process) shows up when I hit print in invoice.

Are you attempting to print a custom form? Does this happen when printing a standard Invoice Form? - It happens after I hit print, before the choice of print forms comes up. Error message “An attempt was made to access ok past its end” comes up, then subsequently when I tried printing, it kept saying “Credit Memo printing in process” and just wont allow us to print." Again, this happens to 2 users. But the other 2 users are fine.

Have you checked the Users Privileges for AR and printing? - Yes. They are the same as before with full rights for sales module. (I only have this problem the past two weeks. It was fine before that)

Are you on network, and if so, are you printing across the network or to a local printer? - Yes. On network. Print both to network and local printer. But it should no matter, because the choice of printer has not come up yet.

Is this a new printer / printer driver?
- No. Everything old. No Change.

Thanks.

Next test would be to print from the REPORT & FORMS Menu. Open Reports, click on FORMS and proceed from there to select your prefered form etc. You may be experiencing a damaged Windows Registry Key associated with last choices. Or if you are using a custom LAYOUT OR TEMPLATE in the Sales Invoice Screen, you could change it back to the 'Predefined - Product' or 'Predefined Service layout'. It appears to be a corrupted setting related to the 'Last Used Form'.

I tested it from REPORT & FORMS. If I open Peachtree and directly go to REPORT & FORMS to print, all of the users have no problem. If I open sales invoice and click "print" icon on top, the error messages (1. “An attempt was made to access ok past its end” 2. credit memo printing in process ) comes up right away (before it shows choice of invoice and printers) . After that, same error message ( credit memo printing in process) comes up when I tried to print quote, or when I go to REPORT & FORMS to try to print. After the error, when I tried to close peachtree, a message would comes up and ask if I want to save form design.

We are not using template in sales invoice screen. Everyone is using standard layout.

Again, I set up more users and now 4 out of 7 have this problem. The other 3users never has this problem. I have tested it by logging in and out using different users on my desktop to eliminate local setup issues.

So try using the Template feature where you can define your prefered form when printing. See if this forces a work around. I expect that the Last Used Form setting is corrupted. By using the Template or Layout, you can force the program to use another form. Try it and then post back here.

No. It does not help. I created a new layout on the sales invoice screen and make it default. But the 3 out 7 people still gets same error messages when I click "print" on the top of the invoice screen.

When you created the new custom TEMPLATE, there was an option where you could define your prefered DOCUMENT to use when printing. You did not mention have changed this setting.

Next, you need to check for software conflicts. Reboot one of the troubled workstations (assuming that the problem is not user specific i.e. Network or Peachtree permissions), into Windows "SAFE MODE with NETWORKING" using F5 or F8 during bootup. Once in Safe Mode, test Peachtree's printing problem again.

Dear Rick,

I did change the setting of prefered document to use when printing in the new layout (template). But it did not help.

As mentioned before, to eliminate other software or hardware issues, I had done testings on same PCs using different users (login in Peachtree) and 3 out of 7 users have problem with "print" icon in invoice screen. It has nothing to do with workstations or network because it is on the same environment. For example, A user does not work on workstation 1 and 2 and 3. And B user works on workstation 1 and 2 and 3. Hope this is clear.

Backup your data files and then DELETE one of the troubled Users via Maintain - User Security and then close this screen. Next setup a new User with Admin Rights and close. Login as this new user and test the printing. If all works Ok, then return to User Security and adjust the User Rights, save and then re-open the Company logging in as the NEW but revised User. Test again. If all works then repeat for the remaining troubled users.

I tried it and it works for a few works until one user came to me and said that he got error again when he tried to print a packing slip. I went to Form design to check the packing slip form and got error. (The other forms are fine). So I just delete the packing slip form from form list and everyone works. I waited a few days and up to now, no error has shown up again.

Yes! Thank you for your help!

Using Peachtree 2008, single user version. Today for the first time, I experienced this same problem and am unable to process invoices. Is there a fix for it other than buying a new version of Peachtree?
