Please help. I started this on Friday and it's Tuesday morning and I'm only at 68% (Sync Test for Customers-Reposting Journal). Before it was started I did notice it said it had been 214 days since it was last ran. It continually stops responding but the server sounds like it's still crunching and after a couple of hours, it will respond and add a few percents. I'm running Premium Acct Distribution 2009. I've never experienced it taking this long and have not noticed what comes next after the Customers part stated above. I did notice during the Unposting part that it went back to 2008 and the last error that poped up on the Posting part was March, so I am getting closer. If when 2008 is closed, and I run this again at a later date, with it go back and verifiy that data again?

Thanks for any help!

FINALLY... It finally finished. Now that it has run, will it go back through the same data when it is ran again?

Thanks

The answer to your question is YES. The DV process checks the complete database every time it is run.

Thanks Rick

Does it typically take this long to run (3 days)? Will it run faster since it's been through the process and errors fixed?

Personally, I have never seen or heard DV taking anything like 3 days. The time suggests that your database is very large and or your hardware (RAM memory) is weak, performance issues related to Security Software on a network plus possible additional time to correct for errors found. Did you note the number of errors reported or print the Errors Report? It stands to reason that the next time, assuming that it is not going to be a long time coming, i.e. additional data added, that it will run marginally faster.

If you temporarily copy your company to your local drive, open the company there, and run verify on it there, it might speed it up. Maybe the network is the bottleneck...

I was concerned about the server and it's capasity. I pulled the PT box to find out what the min requirements were and the server is just over the min for processor speed. While the utility was running, the server was running at 12-20% cpu usage so I didn't know whether the utility was running on my workstation or at the server. Ether way, I hope that next time I run it, it won't take 3 days. I did print the error log and it was 9 pages! Most of the errors say "...data synchronization test was performed to resolve this error." so I did not address those. There were only a few that I actually had to address. If I need to address the others that showed the message above, please let me know.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions!
Kelly

You should spot check a few of the data synchronization errors for your own peace of mind. Otherwise, check your various financials and supporting reports i.e. Aged AR and Aged AP etc and contrast them against the same Balance Sheet Accounts. That should take care of it.

Thanks Rick. Everything checks out ok at this point.
