Close year process - How long should it take?

How long should the close year process take??

Is it ok to be online while its working?

Again is has went through the first process where status bar got to 100%
is now working but nothing showing on the status bar

I tried once, and after 23 hours I rebooted and restored and ran data verification, I am currently trying again to close out 2008.

Before my first try, the company size was approximately 80 mb

after the reboot and restore, company size is now 96mb...curious as to why

if you are on a network, i always run year end on the server so that network speed wont be an issue.

If any close took 23 hours, i would never be able to bill my time - noone would pay for that much time

I would consider running it on the server, and looking at the memory and hard drive pecs for the server, perhaps posting them for our opinions,

I consider anything more than a few hours to be a sign of trouble...

what kind of trouble?

should anything be showing on the status bar?

stand alone computer
