When entering a salary or hourly rate in the employee maintenance, the 2 place automatic decimal does not work. Entering an hourly rate as 2500 shows as 2,500.00 per hour instead of 25.00.

ANOTHER "clinker" in 2010 is that the Enter key no longer functions as a tab key the way older versions did. Using the Enter key to tab thru to the hours on payroll entry results in the check being saved before you get to the hours field.

It's really annoying when you upgrade and the upgraded product doesn't perform basic functions that have always worked in the past.

I didn't notice these things until I had already converted my files. Now it's too late to go back because of the amount of info we have entered since upgrading.

I'm very disappointed in the 2010 upgrade. I would throw it out in a heartbeat if i could convert my files back to the 2009 version.

Anybody have a fix for these?

You need to go to Options, Global & Accounting (Maintain Global Options). Change the Decimal entry from manual to automatic. Then when you enter 2550 you will get 25.5 hrs.

I don't know about the enter key. It is frustrating when you get an "upgrade" and it takes something away that worked before.

Lisa:

Thanks but I already did that before posting the thread. I've been using Peachtree for over 10 years.

The auto decimal works fine in other areas, even other areas of payroll.

There is a definite program glitch.

Have you downloaded and installed SR1 for Peachtree 2010? Open Peachtree and click on SERVICES. If you are on a Network, you must download and install on the Server or Host Computer first.

Thanks Rick.

Yes I have the update (Company/Updates/PPA2010sr1.exe)

If you got to the employee maintenance and change a salary or hourly rate or add an amount in the employee fields does your program work properly with the auto decimal ??

I would appreciate it if you would try it.

Thanks,

Ed

I have tested this subject in Peachtree 2006 through 2010. I set the OPTIONS - GLOBAL to Automatic Decimal Entry, 2 places. I then changed the Employee Pay Info rate and found that the new value was properly formatted in Peachtree 2006 & 2007 but not so in Peachtree 2008, 2009, or 2010.

Thanks for checking .... now I know I'm not going crazy.
