I'd appreciate any help from Forum Members...

We started using PeachTree since last year and made the mistake of closing 2001 year on May 2002. (eventhough help files recommend to wait the closest to the end of the 2nd Accouting period)

Question, is it a way to undo the closing? (We guess "no" or haven't found it yet)

Since we have a backup of:
Dec 31st 2001 - with no closing done
May 9th 2002 - before doing the closing and another after doing the closing
A Monthly one at different dates since Apr 2001
Is it a way to rebuild the company?

Let's say like to:
Take actual company, export data files from Jan 1st - Jul 21st 2002. Then import them to Dec 31st 2001 restored company? Like appending 2002 transactions...

Since there is no guide on the PT Help files we tried a method following the rebuild method guide but the begining balances came out all messed up and some transactions did not transfer at all (eventhough there were no error during the exporting process).

Has anyone gone through a similar case? Any help will be greatly appreciated

It can be done, but you'd probably be best off paying a professional to extricate you from this situation. It's good that you have several back-ups. The only way out of the situation to import your new transactions into the most recent back-up prior to the year-end close.

David,
Thanks for the tip...

Yesterday we were able to successfully restore the whole company history using a backup file done 1 day before the closing.

Only 5 transactions did not transfer but they were easily fixed re-entering the data.

I'll post some tips from our Team learning for if another forum member faces the same situation:

1.-Review the pre-closing latest backup with actual data file and matched transactions changed since then.

2.-Run a whole integrity test using option "%program%\PTreeDir\peachw.exe /i" for old backup and latest data company.

3.-Open the help file and search "rebuild". Keep it open or printed. Read it thoroughly.

4.-Copy only the 5 .DAT files from actual data company to the old backup one used in the process.

5.-Export all Maintenance and Journal data. Better to chose "1st row headings" for easily ID errors that might happen within excel.

6.-Open backup file. Set up "Acct. Period" to the oldest one. In our case back to Jan 1st 2001. Start the import process following help file order.

7.-If errors happened, a print screen will be useful to save the clipboard images so you can directly ID errors for easily fixing.

We were successful using this method.

And do not forget to backup as you import each data file...
