Toasted data is the leading cause I have seen of a failed conversion. You can try running some of the integrity checks to try and correct or the data repair advertised on this site.

You would have to modify them externally, since Peachtree doesn't let you fiddle with the older records. If you have a detailed list of what needs to be fixed you could use a tool like PawCom to read ALL the records, hand edit the data, then write back the problem ones. However, you would need to do a complete integrity check after this to fix the GL.
An alternative is to try the data fixing service at the top of this page. You only get charged if your data can be repaired.
Some people have also said that if you are converting to the latest version of PT and having problems then Peachtree will give you assistance if you send your database to them. However, this means you have to be offline until you get the converted data back, which might take a week or two.

You could also click on the "data damaged?" banner above and speak to them about repairing your data and converting it. I have a client in v6 who could not convert due to damaged data and they were able to repair their data and aid the conversion.

PS: Robert, the PawCom page says that it works with v. 7, 8, etc. I'm working with data that is still in 6.0 format...
There's a predecessor product called PAW/et that works with version 6 data. More information is available at http://www.acctadv.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AA&Product_Code=MW-PAWet

No problem. I try to keep a relatively low profile so that distributors can chime in and usually don't include it: http://www.multiwareinc.com/pawcom.htm and for V6 and earlier http://www.multiwareinc.com/pawet.htm
will work. Also you'll find a link on the home page of peachtreeusers.

It *appears* that the problems with the conversion are coming from old invoices that show open balances even when they should show as paid.
I have this problem everytime I close and purge Peachtree.
Back up your data.
Goto Run and use this command line
C:\PEACHW\Peachw.exe -i (assuming that is where the program is installed.)
On the menu run the integrity check and check the A/R.
Use the option that the invoice is correct.

Several folks have posted recently that Peachtree will convert your data for free if you're moving to the latest version (Peachtree 2003). I don't know if that's an avenue that you're inclined to pursue, but the forum members that posted indicated success.
