I previously used Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004. I have now installed Peachtree Complete Accounting 2010 and successfully transferred data to PTCA 2010. (I use Windows 7).

When I need to see all transactions of a particular month I go to 'Edit' - Find Transactions, insert dates of the month and hit find.
Result - transactions are listed in ascending order.
Is there any way to have the transactions listed in descending order like in PTCA 2004? Please help.

Thanks very much.

Go to LISTS and select the desired filters and related data columns. You can then sort any of the data columns A-Z or Z-A simply by clicking on the Column Heading. Note there will be a sort arrow adjacent to the column label showing the direction of the sort.

Thank you for your response.
Under LISTS there appear to be only categories of transactions. How do I list all transactions immaterial of category? - just like in Peach Tree Comp Acct 2004, under Edit, Find Transactions, Transaction type - All.
Thank you for any help on this.

You are not looking at the big picture. Check out the Icon Menu as everything that was in 2004 and so much more is now available to you in this area.

Start with the Settings Icon or button. Here you can choose from the list on the left all of the data fields that you want to see. On the right side you can change the order (left to right) of the columns to be displayed.

Back on the main List screen, the next line down offers the related filters for your LIST, starting with the Date Range. Click on this field and choose the apporpriate date period or accounting period to show or list. Next line down provides a Search field to type in the desired Find information. Adjacent to this field is a drop down menu of sources to look in for the desired find or search information.

Once the data is listed, you can then click on the respective column titles and the data will sort top to bottom or bottom to top. The choice toggles.

The above description works for all lists throughout the program. Lists replaced the EDIT feature in Peachtree 2004.

Thank you for your patience and 2nd response. With due respect for all explanation provided, I still do not seem to get it. Settings Icon or button?

On the top of the screen I have:
File Edit Lists Maintain Tasks Analysis Options Reports&Forms Services Window Help (listed horizontally)

On the left of the same screen I have (listed vertically):
Business Status
Customers & Sales
Vendors& Purchases
Inventory Services
Employees & Payroll
Banking
Company
(each of the above with its icon menu displayed on the right)

Where do I go to see all transactions not limited to Customers&Sales or Vendors&Purchases only?

If I go to the top menu, under Edit, there are filters for date range etc. but it displays ''all transactions'' in ascending order not descending like in 2004.

Again on the top menu under Lists, it shows a drop-down menu with Customers& Sales, Vendors&Purchases etc.

In 2004 under Edit, it used to list ''all transactions'', in descending order. This was particularly helpful when, say, entering ten transactions in a day of different dates - the latest transaction entered would appear (datewise, reference numberwise) on top (rather than at the bottom) where one has to scroll every now and then.

I do not get how to do this in lists in 2010. Regret for being so dumb.

My sincere thanks again for any detailed help.

Are you looking to print a General Ledger which will show all postings by GL Account for a defined date range? If not please indicate what group of transactions that you want to see. Or define the steps that you followed in Peachtree 2004 to see what it is that you want, as I fail to understand what the actual report that you are attempting to print in ascending or descending order. In this regard, if you find your report, you can send it to Excel where you can then sort it up or down.

Thank you very much for looking into this again. Regret if I have been unable to articulate the issue correctly.

No, not looking to print anything or to see transactions of a particular type / category. Need to see 'all' transactions, say for the current month, whether they are purchase (PJ), sales (SJ), journal entry (GENJ), receipt (CRJ), payment (CDJ) transactions in the date order and in the order they have been entered - under PT2004 – Edit - Find Transactions - these would be listed date-wise and in the order they have been entered, in descending order by default unlike in PT2010 where they are listed in ascending order by default. That aside, the transactions are listed by type or category e.g. on a particular date if one enters a purchase, sales, receipt, again sales, receipt, purchase transactions in the order stated, then in this case both purchase or sales transactions are listed together (by type) rather than in the order they have been entered. Is there any way of telling PT2010 to list transactions under ‘Edit’ – Find Transactions – in the order of entry rather than type?
Thanks very much for all the help and I shall not be a bore any further.
