Tracking Inventory in Warehouse and Store

Can I use peachtree to track inventory in warehouse and store?
How can I do it?
I was thinking of creating two inventory accounts Inventory - Warehouse and Inventory - Store.
I would use the inventory feature of Peachtree to track the warehouse
inventory and when it is moved into the store, do an inventory adjustment
and move it to the Inventory - Store account. I would track that
inventory with a physical count periodically.

But my problem is how can I track the inventory that leaves the story?
I don’t have a point of sale system?

Any ideas?

You might be able to do what you want by using assemblies. Items in the warehouse would be normal items. You could create assembly items that each consist of one of the warehouse items with the location of the assembly items being the store. Then to move inventory from warehouse to store you simply assemble the required number of units. Items sold in the store would then always be assemblies.

Not a very pretty approach, but, like I said, it might work. A better approach would be to track your inventory locations externally. There are no off-the-shelf products I'm aware of that work with Peachtree, but with a little progamming you could get the job done with PawCom. I recently used PawCom in just this way to distribute inventory between a warehouse and several service trucks.

We came across this question once and the only way we found around it was that for each inventory item that you have in both your warehouse and store would each have to have it's own ID. For instance, say you have a bag of bird food. In the warehouse the id could be: WBF-plain (W indicating warehouse) and in the maintain inventory window in the location block you would put whse. The id for the store could be: SBF-plain (S indicating store) and the location block would be store. Somewhat cumbersome, but we couldn't come up with a better solution.

When you enter sales tickets, if the item was sold from the store, you would have to use the store inventory item id.

Hope this helps.
