I recently upgraded to Accounting Pro 2011 and almost every time I close the program I get an error box that reads:

.NET BroadcastEventWindow.2.0.0.0.3s90434.0: peachw.exe - Application Error
The exception unknown software exception (Oxc0020001) occurred in the application at location 0x7c812afb.
Click OK to terminate the program

Has anyone else encountered this error and/or does anyone know how to fix the problem.

I also on occasion get an error message when opening the program that says the program is already in use... but its installed on a single computer and I'm the only one who ever uses it. I didn't have this problem either until I upgraded to the 2011 version. Any suggestions?

FYI - I tried to install peachtree complete 2011 and encountered the identical problem. Stayed on the phone with support over three hours and they could not resolve. It supposedly is a problem with .net framework 2.0 SP2; however, uninstalling all versions of .net framework and reinstalling did not correct the error. If you try this, make sure you use an uninstaller especially for uninstalling .net framework. There are several if you google. If you find a fix, please post. Thanks.

I have not experienced this problem but based on bjsbrown post, he has suggested that .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 may be the source of the problem. Peachtree 2011 uses .NET FRAMEWORK 3.5 SP1. So if you may want to check and see if this MS version of .NET is installed. It may be necessary to uninstall and then reinstall or run Microsoft's REPAIR for this version of .NET. Go to Microsoft's website and then Search on .NET Framework 3.5 to find the download and related Repair program.

The installation of the latest NET Framework is likely the problem. We had the same issue at the end of June when we upgarded to Peachtree 2011. I had noticed in the weeks before that Windows kept trying to install a NET Framework update, but everytime it tried, the update failed. But everything was working fine, so I didn't worry about it. However, 2011 must use the latest version (NET Framework 3.5 SP1) and without that Windows update, 2011 would not work well or not at all. I had to enlist help from an IT person who had to uninstall all of Microsoft NET Framework going all the way back thru 3.0, 2.5, 2.0, and 1.0. Then he had to reinstall each one. Once done though, 2011 worked fine and has continued to perform without a problem.

Step1) Make a backup of your data

Step 2) Uninstall Peachtree

Step 3) Uninstall the .net frameworks using the MicroSoft .NetFramework uninstall/cleaner utility found on the Microsoft site.

Step4) Reinstall Peachtree and it should install the version of the .net framework that you need to run Peachtree.
