I hope this is the right forum, we have Peachtree version 7.
A new printer (hp deskjet 960) was installed on a Windows 2000 machine before the old printer was uninstalled, and there have been a variety of errors during printing.
1. Something about not having room to save the perimeter settings in the form?
2. The illegal operation error.
3. Spooling over 4000 checks (when trying to only print one) before the job was cancelled.
We uninstalled the old printer, and the uninstalled the new printer, and then reinstalled the new printer, but that only changed the type of errors.
The machine that peachtree was loaded on is part of a network. I believe that some of the files Peachtree needs/uses may be located on the server, such as the .frm files that have check printing information in them.
Our next step was to uninstall and reinstall Peachtree, but I'm trying to save that as a last resort.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thank you
I too have had the same problem with an XP Pro machine and an OfficeJet G85. It printed normally from the printer when it was shared from a 98 machine, but now that it is shared from an XP machine, I get the "No room to store those printer setup perameters in the form file..." when printing invoices. Have you found a resolution to this?

We created a workaround. Peachtree's support tech suggested we update our driver (since I mentioned the spooling problem). It led to a dead end.
Our problems printing were only for custom checks created for new companies. Our custom check forms worked just fine with all of the sample companies, but not with a new company.
Is that the problem you're having?

Well, I believe it is with all companies, but after giving that initial error, it shows the single check as 106 pages instead of one. We are using version 5, so I thought that we should possibly upgrade to 8 and see if that solves the problem.

Hey Carrie:
Illegal operations are almost ALWAYS printer driver issues. You can go to go the HP's website and update to an alternate driver . However I would check your "spool" settings first by going to start - settings - right click on the printer go to properties and change it to print directly to the printer by going into the ADVANCED tab. If this doesnt work you will NEED TO recreate your custom checks or do a trial & error and try to have them in courier or arial font as simpler is more better. Also, I HIGHLY reccomednd upgrading to version 2003 as many of problems have gone away. Hope this helps.

We already have the latest driver, but I will check the spool settings.
Thanks,

My client just set a default printer (HP Laserjet 8000) for their AP check format. Prior to that they were not getting any printer errors - just had to change default printer for check printing.
Now, every time they try to print checks, they get the "There is no room to store those printer setup parameters in the form file" message.
Running Windows 2000 Pro on a Novell 4.2 network. Any ideas what is happening??

Ther could be many issues here. You might want to upgrade your memery to 512k to prevent memory leakage. PT uses alot of memory.
Run the latest version of PT, System software and updates, and Printer Driver.
You should hit Upon the problem.
If all that fails call tech support

Peachtree Tech Support will tell you it's a 'printer problem' because of the spooling error. I was absolutely convinced it was something in the program that caused this error, because I could print other checks just fine, but Peachtree threw the blame elsewhere.

The "no room to save parameters" message occurs when you are using an older (V7) version of PT along with a new printer. I've ran into this with several clients and the resolution was to upgrade Peachtree. This fixed the problem every time.

One other option you may have is to use an older driver that will work with that printer. Some of the PCL6 drivers have had problems with Peachtree. Look for a PCL5 or PCL4 driver that will work with that printer and perhaps that will help.
I had this problem when I went from a LJ 5 to a 4000 series, I needed to use the 4000 series PCL5 driver instead of the new PCL6 driver.
