old year now out of balance

A friend got her 2001 general ledger out of balance by about $300.00 in 2002. Can a one sided entry be made to rectify the problem?

No. All Peachtree transactions are double-entry. The problem is that the GL has some bad records and must be repaired. This can be done using the "integrity check" in Peachtree, but if you are unfamiliar with how to do this, you will probably want to have an expert do it because, if not exactly right, you can actually make matters worse.
