I have tried enabling the use of Peachtree Complete Accounting 2003 (multi-user/value pack) in a terminal server using "neoware" dumb terminals. I cannot manage to log in simultaneously using a dumb terminal. The application can only be accessed by one user at a time. Is there a fix or update that will allow simultaneous access? Please help!!!

Peachtree is not designed for use with Terminal Server. There are some work arounds in this forum and others but even if you get multiple workstations logged in you are going to see a huge performance problem. The program files should be local for best performance. From my experience at least :-)

Peachtree's stance is that they don't support Terminal Server, period. As TheWolf said, you can get it to work, but it requires some effort, and no official help from Peachtree.

I want to thank both of you for reassuring me this. I appreciate your assistance.

AFAIK,

I'm not really sure if Wolf and David really meant that the 2003 version is capable of running on a Terminal Server enviroment.

Until version 8, PCAW was able to run fairly easily on TS (altrought Peachtree has never supported TS). Then Peachtree 2002 came out and it took some time before someone could really make it work under TS. Now the Peachtree 2003 version is out and I haven't seen someone to crack this out quite yet (but maybe Wolf and David have seen it), and I have received quite a lot of e-mail asking if I have been able to do it.

So if someone has actually seen it and/or knows how to do it... please post.

Also, an interesting point here is that this time (for the first time) Peachtree stated explicitly in their 2003 license agreement that it was illegal to run it under TS... this may or may not have to do with this issue.

Definitely the trick that works with v7-8 and 2002 doesn't work with 2003... that's for sure.

On the other hand... I have found that Peachtree runs under TS faster than in a network and I even think is more reliable since data doesn't have to travel tru the network and that means less hardware errors. This has been my experience, but I have never exceeded the number of TS users in more than 4... not sure if it will be wise to do so.

Maxx,

Man... you wasted 8 perfectly good posts flaming this product. You are the one that actually needs help... not peachtree.

You realize that this forum isn't owned by Peachtree and the vast majority here are end users and consultants that doesn't have any relationship with Peachtree itself?

I spend all my day reading junk mail and then I have to come here and see this... don't do it.... please... I beg you.

I agree with jag, there are many of here that make our living supporting Peachtree, we come here for a chance to help end users and for the chance to communicate with our peers.

Perhaps you would feel more comfortable writing Peachtree Software directly and not bothering the rest of us, we are here trying to learn or to help others. It would be greatly appreciated.
